CT Sports: National boxer Dinindu Saparamadu won the gold medal in the 64Kg weight class at the Tai City Cup International Boxing Championships which was held recently in Taiwan.
He downed Korean boxer Jang Byeong Hee in the final.
During the second round, in the face of a knock-out punch by Saparamadu, the Korean was unable to continue boxing further. Thus, Saparamadu achieved an excellent victory.
It is significant that this was the second international boxing gold medal won by Dinindu Saparamadu during this year. He won a gold medal at the international boxing treble championships held in Slovakia and was crowned the best boxer as well.
MAS boxer Dinindu Saparamadu is the only boxer from Sri Lanka to have qualified for the World Boxing Championship to be held in Germany. Dinindu qualified for the world championships due to the talent he displayed at the Asian Championships held at Tuscan in Uzbekistan in May. Accordingly, Dinindu Saparamadu has been ranked as the fifth best boxer in Asia.
Saparamadu will leave for Hamburg in Germany on 22 August to participate in the World Championships to be held from 25 August to 2 September.
